The COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it a host of challenges that have been felt far and wide by all industries and sectors of society. Food service operators, for example, have not only have they seen their capacities reduced by social distancing guidelines, they have also had to introduce stricter cleaning practices which will help restore customer confidence.

Whilst the pandemic across the globe has actually led to many positive results from an environmental point of view, there has been a natural resurgence in the use of single use plastics to ensure that the risk of germs transmission is minimised as much as possible.  Furthermore, a lot of PPE contains high levels of single-use plastic which adds to the eco-problem. So, whilst it is, without doubt, essential that that the virus is contained and controlled, this doesn’t help from an environmental standpoint.  After all, let's not forget that before COVID, there was a huge push by society at large to eliminate the use of single use plastics.

There is a caveat to using single use plastics however.  As of 2021, forthcoming EU & UK legislation means that the use of single use plastic will be banned. This is why Event Hire UK has diversified not only into the world of reusable cups and glassware but also into reusable cutlery.

We have designed a solution for reusable stainless steel or polycarbonate cutlery where we offer a simple rental solution. We deliver clean & sanitised cutlery packs, wrapped in hygienic film, which gives the consumer the confidence that the cutlery they are using is safe to use. At the point when our teams deliver clean product, they also collect the used cutlery, taking it back to our local wash centres to be washed & sanitised, polished and re-wrapped, ready to go back to our customers.
