Read all about table hire and how different tables suit different event types.

One of the most underestimated pieces of furniture is table hire. Versatile, functional, effective and always needed, whatever the event!

In today’s market, there is a whole world of choice when it comes to table hire for events, from the ever-popular round banquet table or trestle table, all the way through to bistro tables, high tables, poseur tables and coffee tables – the list almost seems endless.

Event planners, of course, are constantly looking to evolve the styling of their events, in keeping with trends and fashions. In 2024, therefore, you can rest assured that whatever type of table you need, it will be available, but what type of table is suitable for which type of event.

Let’s have a look at some different options below, which will hopefully be used as and when the time comes for you to rent tables for events.

Gala dinners

Gala dinners are all about luxury. From the Champagne reception to the sit down dinner, gala dinners are set up to be sumptuous affairs, full of merriment and dancing. It’s no surprise, therefore, that round banqueting tables are the order of the day here. Round banquet tables are available in a range of different sizes from any reputable table hire company, and so you’ll need to decide which size is going to best suit your requirements.

By this, we mean that this will most likely be determined by the size of the venue, the layout of the room, the number of guests you are expecting, and the seating plan. How many guests do you want on each table? Remember to leave enough room between the tables to both accommodate that people will be sitting on chairs, and also allowing room for a small walkway between each table.

Hospitality events

There are too many types of hospitality events to name that take place throughout the year, but many of these often rent bistro tables for temporary catering events. Players lounges, public catering zones and staff canteens are all examples of where bistro tables will be useful. For this type of event, we also offer dining tables with melamine tabletops, so there’s no need for any table linen – this provides a modern and contemporary look for your dining tables at your event.

Graduation ceremonies

Usually taking place across the months of May and June at educational establishments up and down the country, trestle tables are always required for these events, usually behind the scenes, either for the catering tables, or alternatively to kit out the students pre-ceremony with their gown and mortar board, so they look the part! Efficiency of access to the right sizes is important for the staff, and so by hiring trestle tables, you can lay out everything in advance, so it’s readily available when the guests arrive.

Polling stations

And speaking of trestle tables, election time is a great example of where demand for rectangular trestle tables goes through the roof. Not only are trestle tables (as well as dividing privacy screens) needed for temporary polling stations, but they are also needed for the counting centres in different regions across the country.

At election times, demand for our trestle table hire service is astronomical, and we simply have to turn down clients due to the huge numbers involved. Remember, we have thousands of trestle tables in stock, but even we can’t service each and every requirement, especially if the election falls in the middle of the summer peak season!

Weddings

Weddings are a great example of where round tables, trestle tables and small cake tables are needed. Round tables for the guests, trestle tables for the top table, and the cake table for, well, the cake. If it’s a smart dining event you are planning such as this, then we would always recommend that you also hire linen with your tables.

These tables are a real workhorse of our range and, as such, are always out on hire. They are hire stock, and the 15mm plywood tops can get scratched over time. Crisp tablecloths, napkins and table runners, therefore, are a great way to dress up your wedding tables.

Bar events

And last, but by no means least, poseur tables are ideal for networking and bar events. A poseur table is an elbow height table which is ideal for placing drinks on so that you can socialise with guests, clients and friends at an event. They are a great piece of space-saving furniture, especially when combined with bar stools.

Hopefully, this information gives you a flavour of the different types of table hire available in the market, and what sort of events they can be used at in 2024 and beyond.
