Remember the scenes from the last couple of years of people stampeding through supermarkets and electronics shops, fighting with others to claim the latest gadget at a knock down price? Yes, that was Black Friday, and this year Black Friday takes place on Friday 25th November.
So, what is Black Friday? Well, it’s a tradition that seems to have arrived from the USA, where retail stores provide some loss leading ‘bargains’ on (usually) electronic goods and gadgets. The reason for this is so that people are enticed into the store with the promise of deals that are ‘too good to be true’. But are they really? Are retailers not simply discounting old stock that they haven’t been able to shift during the year, or are they really providing huge discounts on the latest TVs, phones and other electronics? Time will tell. Of course, this competitiveness between retailers in the lead up to Christmas is nothing new – they have always fought for our spend through TV commercials and the latest product ranges, and then typically had sales in the January sales. It seems now, however, that the sales begin pre-Christmas (starting in earnest on Black Friday) ….something that would never have happened a few years ago…..which just goes to show how competitive the retail environment is.
Black Friday is here to stay
One of the main reasons for this competitiveness on the high street is the internet. No doubt, once again this year, there will be record numbers of people doing their Christmas shopping online and eye-watering volumes of packages being delivered. And why not doing your shopping this way – after all, you can browse from the comfort of your own home, compare like for like products, get great prices and have it delivered to your house, saving on time, hassle and parking!
This year, Event Hire UK has seen fabulous traffic volumes on our website, showing that more and more people are turning to the internet to find what they are looking for when it comes to furniture hire, chair hire, catering equipment hire and much more. We have all our ranges online along with the prices. You can make an online enquiry or even use live chat to talk directly with one of our sales team.
So, whether you need to hire chairs and tables for Christmas Day or rent furniture for a corporate party, why not take a few moments to browse our range…..and don’t forget to book early to avoid disappointment.
