Black Friday & Cyber Monday

Don’t worry, it’s not Black Friday today, so you haven’t missed out!  A few years ago, if you’d mentioned the words ‘Black Friday’ and ‘Cyber Monday’, people might have given you a strange look, wondering what on earth you were talking about.  However, the trend of the UK following the US in all-things retail now means that these phrases are well known and, indeed, eagerly anticipated as online shoppers look forward to bagging the best online deals.

Black Friday signals the unofficial start of the Christmas shopping period, and this year takes place on Friday 24th November.  Large online retailers will be no doubt advertising their black Friday deals well in advance, enticing shoppers to part with their cash on bargains and loss leaders to grab their share of the market.  Gadgets, cameras and other electronics are the most likely candidates this year, so if you are in the market for these, get looking around online!

Believe it or not, Cyber Monday was ‘started’ when online retailers wanted to give their Christmas sales a boost, indeed in the days before people realised just how big internet shopping would become.  This year falling on Monday 27th November, you can expect to see staggering sales running into the billions of dollars, and no doubt a new record will be set online for the collective revenue, as has been the case every year for the past decade as internet retail continues to boom.

As for Event Hire UK, we are so confident in our competitive prices that we don’t necessarily follow the trend – we want our customers to be confident that our prices are competitive all year round, not just on Black Friday and Cyber Monday!  If you are thinking about hiring furniture and Christmas party equipment, for example, this year, then get in contact with one of our sales team today who will be delighted to run through all the options with you.  That’s, of course, if the internet doesn’t break with all the online traffic!
