What on earth just happened in 2020 to the wedding season?
Without doubt, 2020 is sure to be a year that goes down in history. Bushfires in Australia, floods across the UK and then a global pandemic. And in amongst this doom and gloom, there always seems to be more doom and gloom to compound things even more. Ultimately, 2020 seemed to be a battle of wills and strength of character.
Global economies suffered in the face of the pandemic lockdowns. Closer to home in the UK, there are very few industries that managed to avoid being negatively affected. The wedding industry, for instance, was one that basically saw cancellations upon cancellations like never seen before. The big day of many brides and grooms was postponed (often multiple times), and we know of wedding planners and marquee businesses that unfortunately had to close.
So, with the COVID vaccine now being distributed, what will be 2021 wedding season look like? Will it return to ‘normal’? Or is ‘normal’ wedding season now a thing of the past.
To be honest, much will depend upon how the immediate future pans out, the rate at which people can be immunised and the effectiveness of the vaccine in society at large. Suffice to say, of course, that 2021 looks more promising than 2020, but as for numbers and restrictions, who can tell at the moment.
For argument’s sake, let’s say that things do go back to a sense of normal. Weddings, traditionally, take place on a Saturday. However, we’ve got a year’s worth of anxious brides and grooms who want to tie the knot, so who knows – maybe Friday weddings will now become much more commonplace. Larger wedding venues will no doubt be booked to capacity, with many being able to accommodate several weddings at a time. The focus will be on efficiency within the venue, whilst also making sure that the bridal party and their guests have their day to remember.
Wedding season furniture hire
Here at Event Hire UK, in normal wedding season times, we work with wedding venues, marquee companies, wedding tipi companies and individual brides and grooms to help them fulfil their dreams. Wedding venues usually have their own furniture, though often come to us for additional numbers of tables, chairs and linen, along with tableware such as glassware, crockery and cutlery.
Individual brides and grooms who are looking to do things themselves will often hire an event space and want to furnish it themselves. If this is the case, then they will need wedding furniture hire, chair hire, linen hire and tableware hire. We can also offer mobile bar hire, dance floor hire and even illuminated LOVE signs and floral walkways to dress up the wedding venue, whether this is a village hall, sports club or other venue.
We offer a seamless hire experience nationwide when it comes to led furniture hire for weddings and take pleasure in providing our equipment in great condition and at the right price. With four distribution centres around the country, you can benefit from our affordable delivery and collection service direct to your venue or, if you prefer, you can collect and drop off in person to save any transport fees – we always look forward to meeting our clients in person! We also offer a showroom facility in our Midlands HQ where you can come and browse our range of equipment for hire and enjoy a coffee and a chat at your leisure – when lockdown is lifted of course!
If you are planning your wedding season this year and need to hire wedding furniture and equipment, you know where to come. The team at Event Hire UK are poised ready to assist you every step of the way and will welcome your call. We very much look forward to hearing from you soon during this year’s wedding season!
